Question: Do Our Steam Cleaners
Clean Tile Grout?
YES
THEY DO! In fact,
when done correctly, our Vapor Steam Cleaners often do an amazing job. Many times,
although not always, floor tile grout is left in nearly new
condition and it is always left sanitized and refreshed.
I personally used the VC-4000-S as part of our bathroom renewal
business many years ago. We primarily used the steam cleaner to
clean floor grout in kitchens, hallways, and in bathrooms. Floor
grout, with its heavy sanded grout often cleans beautifully
where as wall grout, specifically the white powdered grout on
shower walls, does not clean as well. Often having someone come
in your home or place of business to clean your floor tile and
grout can cost hundreds of dollars per visit. Owning our own
vapor steam cleaner can save you thousand over the years. It
will also leave your place of business or your home looking
clean and fresh. If you are a contractor you can use your vapor
steam cleaner to earn money cleaning floor grout. Don't forget,
a steam cleaner has thousands of uses!
See tile & grout cleaning video
here.

Second
Question: How Does It Work?
Our Vapor Steam Cleaner systems all put out
super heated 95% dry steam at indoor safe pressures providing an
easy solution for INDOOR cleaning!
You
see, our vapor systems only use about one gallon of water every
full hour of non stop use. Utilizing super heated steam vapor
under pressure, mild agitation from the brush tip and the
moisture provided by the steam these systems blast out the
microscopic pours of the grouts surface and place the greases,
oils and dirt in water suspension. The water left behind is so
little that you can simply wipe it up with a cloth by hand or
use the included steam mop attachment. The result is clean and
sanitized grout. The super heated steam simultaneously kills
virtually all viruses, bacteria and other pathogens on contact.
Please note that our
Vapor Steam Cleaners are NOT Pressure Washers!
We carry a complete line of
heated high pressure power
washers here
but using one for indoor grout cleaning is a bad idea!
Pressure washers use several gallons of water per minute quickly
flooding an area. Also, the extreme high pressures of a power
washing system can rip out your grout and even lift tile.
Not so with our unique line of high quality, home and
commercial vapor steam cleaning systems.
They are ideal for indoor grout
cleaning!
See tile & grout cleaning video
here.
Third
Question: Do You Offer Special Grout
Cleaning Attachments? YES
WE DO! We offer THREE different detail
brushes for grout cleaning!
These brushes are approximately
  1
inch in diameter and come in Nylon (most popular)
Brass and Stainless Steel all are very low priced and
available online.
The Nylon is the softest and most popular.
It comes standard with all our vapor steam cleaner systems. The
metal brushes come with most of our units but not all, see
product pages. The Brass is a metal brush medium in hardness.
The Stainless Steel the hardest of our brushes often used for
tough jobs like rusty metal, brick and even grout. Always use
caution when working with the metal brushes. Many contractors
report great success with stainless steel brushes when working
on tile grout. We recommend the Nylon as it is safe on all tile
and won't damage the tile. Use the meal ones with caution. Metal
brushes are only available on certain vapor steam cleaner
systems. Not available on the MR-100. Every vapor steam cleaner
comes with a complete set of accessories for use in hundreds of
applications. See product pages for more information.
Fourth
Question: What is the Process for cleaning
floor grout?
We
will go into greater detail in just a moment. Before we start
lets just summarize the steps. First, add clean water to your
home or commercial steam cleaner, plug it in
and allow it to warm up. Attach the
hose and select your cleaning attachment. For grout cleaning use
the small black nylon detail brush. Attach it to the easy stand
and clean extension poles and start steaming. Simply work the
tool up and down the grout joint agitating the grout while the
steam hits it. Once done, simply dry mop or wipe up the excess
moisture with a small towel. It is that easy. That was a
very short summary of the process. For a more complete detailed
description of tile and grout cleaning for both contractors and
home owners click here.

Fifth
Question: How Much Does A Steam Cleaner
Cost? They vary
in price, quality and power. A simple rule of thumb, the
higher the wattage and the bigger the boiler size, the better
the better the steam generation will be. Quality attachments are
also very important. Below you will see our recommendations for
grout cleaning steamers. Please also note that these vapor steam
cleaners have hundreds of other uses including but not limited
to tile and grout cleaning, steam mopping, detail cleaning, spot
cleaning, cleaning appliances like refrigerators and freezers,
jewelry cleaning, auto detail work and much more. Prices are
directly below. |

Sixth
Question: How Do I Pick The Right Steam
Cleaner For Me? This is a very good
questions. The short answer is if you want a good high
quality, high wattage commercially warranted vapor cleaner I
would point you to our
best selling VC4000-C. It is moderately priced, packed full
of features, great attachments and is the highest power
115-Volt, 15-Amp vapor steam cleaner on the market boasting a
full 1800 watts! It is a great all around vapor steam cleaner. If you are a home
owner on a budget, the very low cost MR-100 will do the job, but
it will do it slower and the attachments are not as high quality
as our larger home unit, the VC3000-R. The 3000-R comes with
commercial quality accessories but it is considerably more
expensive. You
can see the
MR-100 video page
here. You can see the
VC-3000-R here.
Home Owners: There are
several Steam Cleaners
we offer for tile and
grout cleaning but there
are a few we think will do
the best job. For a home owner, I would point you to the 4000-S
as a number one pick. This is not taking into consideration
price. The second choice in the home class would be the 3000-R
which comes fully loaded with large professional accessory kit.
The other choice for grout cleaning would be the MR-100. A low
cost yet very effective steam cleaner.
Businesses / Contractors:
For the Contractor or Commercial Grout Cleaning Service I would
point you first to the VC 4000-C Heavy Commercial Steam Cleaner.
It is by far our best selling steam cleaner and is packed with
features. Most importantly, the 4000-C has the highest wattage
in our commercial class boasting a full 1800 Watts. Wattage
matters when your cleaning grout in large areas. Higher wattage
means more steam generated which equals a greater consistent
volume of steam coming out. This of course leads to faster
cleaning. More wattage doesn't clean better, just faster. The
5000-Ci also has 1800 Watts of power.
Below
are our top choices for
steamers.
They are listed in order,
best first. All the steamers
listed here will work very
well
but some have faster steam
regeneration, others have
chemical injection, and
various wattages. Our
ideal is 1600 to 1800 Watts.
1800
Watts is as much power as
you can get out of a common
15amp household power
outlet.
This MAXIMUM
wattage gives you maximum
steam regeneration and power.
For those that want the
extra edge, consider a
chemical injection system.
You can actually put a bug
killing agent in the injection
system and with
the press of a button,
inject it into cracks around
the home. This will give
your extermination efforts a
residual effect. that means,
after your first steam pass,
the chemical will keep on
killing other bugs you might
have missed. Again, super
heated dry vapor steam is
all you need. This is just
an option and not required
for the killing of bed bugs.
Below is a simple comparison
chart showing some of the
features and power of our
recommended vapor steam
cleaner systems.

Steam Testimonial:
HI, I tried a Commercial Steam
Cleaner way back in
probably the 1990's. We used one on the job to clean a bathroom
in NYC. It worked real well. Later, I purchased the VC 4000-S commercial
steam cleaner . I
LOVED IT! I had it for years and used it as part of our tile and
grout cleaning business. We specifically cleaned kitchen and bathroom
floor grout with it. We only used it every so often, but it did
an amazing job and lasted for years. I sold it still working and
now have a 4000-C. Still loving it! Both units work just as
good. Anyway, great product. Jim, NY

Tile & Grout
Cleaning
TIPS &
TRICKS
These are
just a few ideas for
assisting you in the
cleaning process.
None are necessary as
the steam
cleaner has all the power
need for most floor grout
cleaning situations.
For those in the
cleaning business or
those that just need to
clean a large area there
are a few simple steps
that can speed up the
cleaning process.
Although none of the
steps we are about to
list are
necessary they may be
just what you need to
make the cleaning go a
bit faster.
 TIP
#1 FOR SPEEDING THINGS
UP: For those that
do not want to
use chemicals but do
want some assistance in
cleaning you can pre
moisten the area to be
cleaned. Simply take a
mop and spread some
water on the area to be
cleaned and allow it to
sit for about 5 or 10
minutes. This simple act
of soaking the dirty
grout may make the
steamers work that much
easier and in effect,
allow you to clean
faster.
TIP
#2 FOR SPEEDING THINGS
UP: For those that
want to keep the
chemicals down to a
minimum but want a
little extra help try
some liquid laundry
detergent or diluted
liquid dish soap. Note,
if you use the
dish soap, dilute it a
lot. Maybe a several
drops per gallon of
water. Dish soap tends
to foam and suds up a
lot and will make clean
up harder. Use watered
down. Fill a bucket with
warm water and add about
a half of a cap full of
the liquid laundry
detergent or maybe a
tablespoon of liquid
dish soap. Now take your
mop and spread it around
the area to be cleaned.
By pre-treating the area
in this manor you are
allowing the detergent
to break down some of
the greases before you
use the steamer. Once
you start steaming you
should find that the
grout cleans not so much
better, but faster. You
will be able to cover
more ground in the same
amount of time. You may
also want to try some of
the natural orange
clean, or citrus
cleaning products on the
market.
TIP
#3 FOR SPEEDING THINGS
UP: For tougher
stains try some
Oxygen Bleach.
This is a NON chlorine,
non bleach substance. It
is made of hydrogen
peroxide. When you mix
this powder with water
it produces oxygen
bubbles. This product
will greatly assist you
in cleaning with your
steamer. Simply spread
the water mix over the
tile and let sit for
about 15 minutes before
you start steaming.
Learn more on our
oxy bleach page here.
 TIP
#4 FOR extremely dirty
or "TRASHED" GROUT:
For truly tough
situations the home or
commercial steam cleaner
will work just fine but
if you want to work
faster and don't mind
chemicals try calcium,
lime & rust remover made
by ZEP and sold in Home
Depot. This stuff
contains acid and should
be handled with care. We
only recommend this
method for professionals
and proper breathing
apparatus should be
worn. This is a powerful
pre-treatment for the
grout cleaning business.
BE SURE IT IS SAFE ON
YOUR TILE. TEST BEFORE
USING! It just may help
you out in a tough
situation. Also try ZEP
tub & tile cleaner or
another strong
detergent. Always test
chemicals in an
inconspicuous area
before applying. Do not
use these chemicals on
Marble or other natural
stones. It is up to you
to read all manufactures
labels and make sound
judgments based upon
their recommendations.
REMEMBER, NEVER put the
chemicals in your
steamer unless you have
a chemical injection
unit. If you do, there
is a clearly marked
EXTERNAL refill tank
designed for detergents.
TIP
#5 FOR COMMERCIAL WORK:
You may want to purchase
an inexpensive wet/dry
shop vac. Although the
steamers put out VERY
little water, less then
one liter of water per
hour of continuous use.
That is about 1/2 of a 2
liter bottle of soda
every hour. The
technology is truly
amazing.
To use a shop vac
effectively you may have
to actually pour or
spray some water on the
tile after you clean it.
The vacuum needs this
extra moisture to do a
good job sucking up the
dirty water. We like to
use a gallon jug of
water and splash it on
the floor as we suck it
up with the vac. Again,
you can use a simple mop
or a few rags to soak up
the moisture but a shop
vac will give your
company a more
professional look and do
a better job.

Grout Cleaning

NYLON GROUT
CLEANING & DETAIL BRUSH:
First lets look at the
nylon detail brush. It
is the softest and safe
on most surfaces. We
always lean toward using
nylon for that reason.
It is great for tile,
grout, sinks and more.
In most cases we use the
nylon brush when doing
residential grout
cleaning. We feel it is
the safest bet when it
comes to protecting a
customers tile. The one
draw backs to the nylon
brush is that it wears
out faster and in some
cases, doesn't clean the
grout quite as well.
When you rub the nylon
tip up and down a rough
grout joint it tends to
eat away the brush. If
you ever run out of
brushes simply give us a
call to order some more.
By the way, all these
brushes fit on the
single hole detail
attachment tool shown to
the right.

BRASS GROUT
CLEANING & DETAIL BRUSH:
Next lets look at
the brass brush. Brass
is a relatively soft
metal. It is good on
surfaces that need a
little more scrubbing
power then the nylon can
offer. Its relatively
soft metal means it is
less likely to harm
surfaces then the hard
steel. Some of our
students like to use the
brass brush for grout
joints in showers. They
feel it does a better
job of cleaning the
un-sanded grout joints
you often find in a
shower. This may be the
case for you as well.

STAINLESS STEEL
GROUT CLEANING & DETAIL
BRUSH:
Next we have the
stainless steel detail
brush. Combined with the
steam it is the most
powerful of the brushes.
This brush should be
formed to fit the grout
joint you are working
on. While most tile may
not be affected, some
tiles will scratch if
you are using an
oversized brush. To do
this simply grasp a
brush firmly at its base
and using a pair of
needle nose pliers grasp
onto one of the clusters
of steel fibers where it
meets the plastic. Twist
and pull the steel out
using a circular motion.
For wide grout lines
leave two tufts (bunches
of steel) at the top and
two at the bottom of the
brush as shown to the
right. For narrow grout
joints just leave one
tuft of steel at the top
and one at the bottom of
the brush. See
illustration on right.
The same can also be
done for the brass or
nylon brush.
If
you can safely use the
steel brush, it is a
good choice. It lasts
longer and scrubs harder
then the other brushes.
Just take care to test
in an inconspicuous area
before you start
cleaning. You want to
make sure that the brush
is not removing grout
and that it is not
leaving any marks or
scratches on the tile.
DO NOT use this brush
around marble or any
other natural stone.
Don't using on any type
of plastic or painted
surface. Only use this
on ceramic tile grout,
cement, rusty metal or
your outdoor grill or
other surface you are
confident about using it
on. Be sure to test
first.

MEDIUM ROUND NYLON
BRUSH:
The
medium round nylon
brush also available in
a triangle version
(see
accessories page)
is a great tool for
scrubbing slightly
larger areas. It is
about 3 inches wide and
is perfect for counter
tops, scrubbing grime
that is stuck to a tile
or other hard surface.
May be useful in
cleaning small one inch
tile. Perfect for many
jobs. Comes standard
with most of our vapor
steam cleaners. Don't
forget all of our steam
cleaners come with full
accessories packages.
Some packages vary so
see product pages for
more information.
